Title: A World Without Comedy
by Rachel from Norfolk | in writing, poetry, lyrical
Imagine a world without comedy,
A world without comfort or joy,
A world where the smiling faces,
Are wiped from both girl and boy.
Imagine a world without humour,
Where wit doesn’t even exist,
A place with no satire, no spoofing,
Sitcoms are no longer a hit.
Imagine a world without stand-up,
A place where no jokes fill the air,
A world where comedians a jobless,
And nobody seems to care.
Imagine a world without happiness,
A place where there’s only depression,
And the only emotion is hate,
In this tormenting world of recession.
I conclude that a world without comedy,
Is a world that contains a hole,
For you see a world without comedy,
Is a world without a soul.
I wrote this poem when I was 15 and entered it into a competition entitled 'I Can't Live Without You'. This was the winning entry. Hope you like it.
