Title: Broken Chain
by Ella | in writing, poetry
The chain was all linked
Entwined with minute flowers
I fingered the silver
For literally hours
I started at the clasp
And twisted all the way
It was entertaining me
On this cold winter day
The silver was so pretty
I wistfully put it back
I wasn't supposed to touch it
My imagination started to lack
So in the early hours
I crept on the crisp floor
I slid into the room
And shadowed past the door
There it was on the table
The chain was so bright
I slipped it onto my wrist
And then I came over in fright
Two links became weary
I pulled them too strong
A slight click was hard
It's sound echoed for so long
I heard the metal rasp
As it coiled like a snake
My life was ruined
The chain I did break
I don't know it just came
