Title: Fear of life
by Hannah from Bedfordshire | in writing, poetry
Darkness leaches through my veins,
Pumping from my heart.
My eyes blacken,
And fear pulses through me.
My eyes are open for the first time.
Colours sting my new vision,
Showing me the world.
But then, evil blinds me.
Suddenly, all I can see is death.
Burning like fire around me.
Every human racing to meet their fate.
I cry out, and flee.
I am running now;
Running from death.
I can hear my heart hammering to its doom.
Why won't it slow down?
Slowly, my legs crumple like paper.
Death is upon me.
I shield my eyes from the fiend,
Praying for mercy.
The next day they found me,
Eyes still fixed and staring,
The mark of death upon my brow,
And blood dripping like crimson tears.
I tried to escape.
I was foolish.
Now I lie choking in the earth.
I died from my fear; now I must live with it.
I tried writing happy poems, but they didn't work out so I wrote this to get me back into my usual style.
