Title: It's your life
by Shannen from Hampshire and Isle of Wight | in writing, poetry
So why do they have to carry guns and knives?
When you going to realise it's breaking peoples' lives
Little kids growing up to be just the same
With no decent role models, they're playing life as a game
I saw on the news last night at about 10.30
A gang fight got out of hand and turned a bit dirty
Why aren't youths using their fists instead of a gun?
Pulling the trigger, another one dead, but to them its just fun
They go around in gangs so they're all protected
But when one gets stabbed it's the family affected
People that drink are more of a threat
Going round stabbing people they've never even met
Kids as young as 10, getting stabbed and getting shot
But to people round London they hear that a lot
To be safe round these areas you need respect
You never know when it's your life this is going to affect
Waiting in anticipation
Too scared to go out due to discrimination
Teenagers not caring about their education at school
Just hanging around on the streets not worrying at all
10,000 knife crimes reported in the last year
With that playing on your mind how can you live without fear?
Another young life lost which can't be found
Never to get a second chance, now 6ft underground
If nothing gets done people are never going to care
Call this life? Its just death out there
I just want people to understand about gun and knife crime and see that carrying a weapon isnt the answer. I also would like feedback just to see whether this poem is any good? Thanks
