Title: Sonnet for Fairtrade
by Al | in writing, poetry
If every life is equal on its dawn
In status, and in worth, and right to rise
A happy person, come each cloudy morn,
Why can so few take time to realise
The effects of normal actions on the ones
Who, out of sight, are also out of mind?
We turn away from those we know are wronged
And are, by glossy adverts, rendered blind.
From now on, give a thought to those in need:
Do not continue making old mistakes.
Would it not be the saddest thing indeed
If we ignored the one small change it takes
To let good people earn for what they've made?
So break the habit now, and buy Fairtrade.
