Title: I can't get out!

by Kerri from Scotland | in writing, poetry

These four walls surround me,
imprison me,
but what can I do?
I can't get out!

I can see the children crying,
crying for this torture to end,
but what can I do?
I can't get out!

I can feel the insects crawling,
crawling all over my body,
but what can I do?
I can't get out!

I can smell the fear,
the fear of death,
but what can I do?
I can't get out!

I can touch the little hands,
the little grubby hands of my baby girl,
but what can I do?
I can't get out!

I can hear the faint sound of Mother's crying,
crying while holding their deceased children,
but what can I do?
I can't get out!

I can taste death,
death of all those I care for so dearly,
but what can I do?
It's my only way out...........

Well, basically I was given an assignment last year at school to do an essay on WW2. As I was writing it I thought that it might be a nice touch to write a poem and include the poem in the essay. So, I did.
