Title: Forever free

by Anna from Essex | in writing, poetry

He stood,
Head up, proud
Facing death
With the courage
Of a hero.
He sang,
Soft words of freedom,
Like the whisper
Of the wild wind,
Over the moors,
Where he belonged.
He smiled,
A sad smile,
But full of pride,
The pride of his country,
Of his cause.
And he died,
Falling back to the earth,
That he rose from,
A soldier and a hero,
His spirit lives on,
In some forgotten field.
Forever free.
