Title: I have a dream
by Fatima from London | in writing, poetry
I have a dream
That all the colours held within the array of vibrancy, known to be a rainbow,
Will one day shine upon those who were blinded as not to see it,
Those whose lives,
Were dishevelled and torn.
I have a dream
That the truth will, one day, be unveiled to those who need help and guidance,
Those who had lost their path,
In the forests of relentless lies.
I have a dream
That cultures, races and roots will, once more, be united in eternal harmony, love and peace,
That people will not be sought after in the way they are pigmented and created, but, in how pure their soul is and in how well they have woven the threads of their existence.
I have a dream
That the earth, the great mother of each and every one of us, she who posses all power,
She who provides nature with its perpetual beauty,
Will be free to live in immortality
Till the day that the sun rises from the west
And shall, for evermore, set in the east upon lands that ring out the song of'
Freedom!
I Have a Dream
This poem was heavily inspired by Martin Luther Jr King's speech of ""I have a dream"" (hence the title!) It was also influenced by events happening in and around my life e.g. ""Till the day that the sun rises from the west And shall, for evermore, set in the east "" I am Muslim and I believe in the world ending or as it's more commonly known, the day of Judgement. In Islam, there are signs that the day of judgement is approaching and one of them being that one day, the sun will rise in the east and will then set in the west. I can really relate to that as the quotation symbolises my religion which I am involved with on a daily basis and that was just one of the ways that I could show how poem has a personal side to it too!
