Title: A whisper
by Laura from Derbyshire | in writing, poetry
A Whisper is a thought said aloud,
To conspire, reveal or conceal,
Whispers can have many causes,
Whispers can have many secrets,
But a whisper is never just a whisper,
Harsh hateful howling whispers
To feed the gossipers habit,
Soft sweet swirling whispers
Praising one's trying efforts,
A hushed 'keep it a secret' whisper,
A loud 'you'd never guess what' whisper
They all carry a spark
Hidden between the words,
A spark, if sweet
That may ignite into a warming flame,
Joining people together around it,
A spark, if spiteful
That will grow into a fearsome fire
Raging in the ears of its victims,
Arguments, jealousy, misunderstandings left in its ashes,
A whisper is never just a whisper,
Remember this when you next feel the urge,
To spread that piece of gossip
About him or her over there,
Or tell a secret to your very best friend,
Remember
Remember that a rumour was born to be spiteful,
And a secret is hard to contain,
Said in a whisper or not
What you say is never just a whisper.
Recently gossip in schools has increased and has become more malicous by the day. This is what I think should go through people's head when they feel like they need to gossip.
