Title: The filing cabinet
by Sophie from London | in writing, poetry
The once empty place
Now filled with uselessness
It resembles a filing cabinet
But some of the files are unreachable
Always cramming in new information
Just by sitting down doing nothing
Some filing cabinets breakdown
Due to age
And flies we thought we would never lose
Or rather couldn't lose
Names you've known since childhood
Your first love or kiss
You can no longer reminisce
You become thankful for the uselessness that is left
Savour every moment left with your memories
Then start learning the same things everyday
Faces, names and places
Gone
Straight to the floor
There is no longer any storage
And yet when there is
When there is no limit to what you can know
You fail to see the point of filling your filing cabinet
Personal experience of a family member losing his memory over a period of time
