Title: Wasted youth of the future
by Hannah from Kent | in writing, poetry
Oh no here they come,
To cause so much anxiety.
How could they have become,
Such a burden to society?
Huddled under that streetlight,
Drinking their lives away.
They used to be so bright,
What's happened to this day?
It's 1am, they're still out,
Vandalising our property.
We can't live in this doubt,
Are they living in poverty?
Even when we know it's not them,
Let's blame them for it all.
Everything they do we shall condemn,
Why should we care if they fall?
And then a voice from the streets,
Shouts out from the lies.
'Just listen!' It repeats,
'We're different!' It cries.
'You forget that we're all individual,
And judge us by the actions of a few.
Their anger, you're just the fuel!
Can't you just see this is true?'
'Let us show you the truth,
And who we really are.
Let us show you the greatness of our youth,
And that we will go far.'
Today young people get so much hassle from adults when the majority of us have never put a foot wrong on purpose. We get blamed for the ignorance of a few and we need to speak up.
