Title: Myself

by Alexandra from London | in writing, poetry

I was you, just as you were me
We were in essence one but in
Other senses two, very different
When I cried you were my laughter
Yet it is also true that you bore
My pain
It is with you alone that I have
Shared my deepest secrets, in silence
I told all, all that you chose to
Hear and some that neither
Of us wished to remember
Sometimes I was angry and
Screamed, screamed at you
I asked that you take me away
From it all, I asked that you
Made things easier, I even asked
Why you couldn't allow me to
Be normal.
You told me that it wasn't my
Place to be normal, my abnormality
Was my strength- as every
Great strength is it was also my
Weakness.
You told me to have faith
For I would achieve
Great things.
I questioned your wisdom,
For your wisdom is my
Own and you quieted me
I have yet to know if you
Are right but am satisfied
With the knowledge
That you will never leave
Me but change and grow
With me and each of us
Will wave goodbye to
Our persons of yesterday.
