Title: Will of God - It's in your hands part 1

by Sapphire from London | in writing, fiction

I arrived at the scene of the ungodly sin. The church stood tall looking down on me proudly as if to show off its height. As graceful in its elegant form the darkness that surrounded it seemed teasingly evil. This in truth made the church surreal. Untrustworthy. Like an innocent angel holding a devils dream. The virgin Mary stood by the big oak doors, loosely dressed in white. Her stone face fixed in an expression of kindness and love, that gave me a little comfort for what I was about to see inside'

The ceiling was an arched shape that looked like it could fall at any given chance, the stained glass windows towered above me, making me feel so small, but after admiring the insides something else caught my eye. I screwed up my face in shock and horror, a bloodied body lay twisted and mangled on the stone floor. The church was poorly lit, that was probably a good thing, I didn't want to see the dead body in full light. My insides churned and made me feel slightly dizzy. I collapsed like a falling bullet onto the frozen ground, which left small cuts on my sweaty palms, I brought up my right hand and clutched my twisted stomach, my body was rejecting my morning meal. Heaps of multicoloured liquid poured from my mouth, leaving me to gasp in the sickened air, it spread slowly across the pale grey stone floor in front of me. Then'darkness'

I slowly opened my eyes. The bright white light above me blinded painfully. They fell closed as to dodge the light that tried to strip me of my sight I turned my head limply to the left and re-opened my eyes, a nurse was fiddling with some tubes that were connected to me. Fluids racing through them like a car. I tried to speak but my throat was dry, so I cleared my throat, that seemed to startle the woman, 'Oh my!, you were not expected to get up yet sir, but of course it is a good thing', she smiled and walked towards me, her face seemed stupid and her voice didn't allow her to appear intellectual; I hated these kind of women. I turned to my right effortlessly, pretending I had not heard her, and let myself fall into a deep sleep.

Yet again I awoke in the hospital room, but I couldn't seem to remember the features of the room. The room was mostly white with blue curtains keeping the sun out, even though I could see streaks of it pouring out from the gap at the bottom of the curtains. I heard footsteps coming towards my room, they stopped just outside the door, I strained to listen for the door handle to be turned, but instead I heard mumbled voices, they were men, I could tell one was going to be a big man because his voice was deep hoarse and gruff, fat or just big I could not tell. The other man seemed to have a small voice so he was probably skinny and weak, I couldn't make out what they were saying but I wasn't too bothered, I was about to try and sleep again when the door was flung open by a tall, big black man in a police uniform, this is when my life changed completely.

'Mr Deirly, I am here to ask you some questions regarding Ms Wilson's death, are you unfit in any way in which you cannot speak to me about it?', he said as he pulled out a notepad and pen. 'No I am absolutely fit to talk to you about this matter, what is it you wish to ask me son?', he looked at me as if I'd just insulted him, I sat up in the bed and awaited him to star his questioning. He began with asking me if I knew her in person, I shook my head and replied no, he then asked me if she'd ever spoken to me, that for some reason that upset me deeply I answered , 'No she never noticed me at all, I never spoke to her, but in the end she wasn't worth it was she?' he looked questioningly at his partner, his partner nodded in reply. They were up to something! They knew something I did not and were trying to provoke me into saying something in particular, my goodness they suspect me how did I not see this coming? I should have, but why?, thoughts whirling around in my head making me dizzy, I brought up my hands to my face and covered it, eyes tightly closed, then one memory surfaced in my mind. I gasp. Slowly take my hands from my face. And announced with a slight smile 'I killed her'.
