Title: Fan girl

by Lisa from London | in writing, fiction

I remember that day I turned into a fan girl really well. It's in my head a lot, like a movie. A good one, because it involved people I admire a lot from start to finish. The first encounter was when I was on my way to a weekend break with my family. Me, my mum, my grandma and my little brother Ethan were on the train at London Liverpool Street Station, waiting to get on our way to Southend.

'I'm bored!' Ethan wailed, beginning to squirm.

'Be quiet, Ethan. We'll be going soon.' Grandma said.

Bored of the waiting and listening to my six year old brother whingeing, I opened my bag, to get out my Ipod and book, thinking to myself 'Thank God I decided to sit in the seats on the other side of the train to them, what with Ethan's moaning'.

When I looked up a few minutes later, my heart thumped wildly and I blinked in shock. Elliot Minor were walking down the carriage, looking for seats. Elliot Minor! I'm only a massive fan and I couldn't help but watch them. All of a sudden'

'Ok if we sit here?' Alex Davies was smiling at me and pointing to the seat next to me.

I stared. I've only had a crush on him since forever so, of course, all I could do was nod and open and close my mouth like some sort of human goldfish.

He sat down and the others followed suit; Ed opposite me, Teddy next to Alex, Dan next to Ed and Ali next to Dan.

'What's your name?' Ed asked.

'Sara.' I said, smiling shyly.

'That's a pretty name. What's your favourite song?'

'Time After Time.'

They kept smiling at me and I began to feel dizzy. Dizzy with happiness and a longing to start running up and down the carriage like a loony. I was sitting on a train with my favourite rock band. How was I supposed to feel?

I looked across the train at my family. Mum and Grandma were just watching intently and Ethan was just looking blankly at us, his mouth wide open. I giggled at their reactions.

'Are they your family?' Dan asked.

'Yes.' I replied.

'They seem to be in a state of shock.'

I giggled some more. The journey to Southend wasn't going to be as boring as I thought it was.
