Title: The Deceased are never Silent-Chapter one

by Charlotte from East Yorkshire | in writing, fiction

Voices could be heard in the wind. The departed wailed and wailed throughout the deserted streets. Roads had a layer of foul smelling corpses, all with a look of horror on their faces. Countless children still had fresh tears from their lifeless eyes on their cheeks as they lay next to their parents. Nobody was moving, apart from a tall, bloodthirsty, evil man, laughing cruelly at the sight of the recent massacre. He breathed in the putrid smell of death as he started to step over detached limbs. To his right, he heard a groan. Looking, he saw a pretty, middle-aged woman, gazing up at him, gasping for breath. The man raised the gun he was holding and ruthlessly shot her. Blood started to ooze down her face. Smirking, the man continued to walk. As he walked, he started to hear crying. 'A survivor?' he thought. There was a figure in the distance, walking towards him. It was a man carrying a toddler in his arms. The mans name was Archie Collins, who was in his early twenties. He had jet-black hair, with midnight blue eyes. He wore a black suit with specks of blood on his white shirt.
'Good evening Collins' said the man.
'Evening sir. I'm sorry sir, I found this little kid crying next to his mother after I had killed her. I just couldn't kill him, and I couldn't just leave him there either.' said Collins, staring down at the sobbing child.
'Collins you have a lot to learn if you want to be like me. The first thing you should know is that if the boss tells you to do something, you do it. He told you, 'no survivors', so you kill everyone, even if they are little kids.' the man said, looking angry 'The boss would be livid if I told him this'
'Oh no, please don't tell him! I'll raise the kid as my own. Please I beg you!' Archie knelt down in front of the man.
'No, the boss will find out eventually, he always does. There's only one thing to do with the kid, and if you won't do it, I will. Hand me the child.'
'No, you cant' yelled Archie, holding onto the child tighter.
'Do you want me to tell boss? He'll kill the kid anyway, and you.' the man attempted to snatch the child from Archie, but Archie wouldn't let go. After a struggle that went on for about a minute, the man was holding the screaming child. Slowly, the man pointed his pistol at the child's head. He then pulled the trigger.
