Title: Addicted
by Nisha from Somerset | in writing, poetry
Love lost in your world of addiction
Is it her you want?
Or the fact that she gives you protection?
Denial is all you feed to yourself
Regret is all you get out of yourself
The pain always lies
And your brain, it keeps crying
To stop this.
Or you'll die.
Alone.
A deadly existence
How do you live
In a world of resistance?
Is it the highs that you feel?
Or are the fantasies real?
To you
Hatred is all you feel for yourself
Dignity is lost from yourself
The pain always lies
And your brain, it keeps crying
To stop this.
Addicted
Oh you're addicted
Addicted
Oh you're addicted
To this.
Inspired by the film 'Candy' with Heath Ledger (RIP) in it. It's about being addicted to a drug and this poem presents elements of a man in love with a woman but the lies of the drug is messing with his mind and that he depends on her. He's too much in love with the drug and that he's losing her; he relies on her to save him from insanity. [This poem has a rhythm to it but no music. I don't think I will convert this into a song as I prefer this as a poem.]
