Title: The Homework Quest
by Nessa | in writing, poetry
Homework was really such a bore,
I didn't think I could take much more,
Why was homework such a chore?
I asked my teacher but she wasn't sure.
So I embarked upon an 'epic quest'
(That was the title that sounded the best)
And I thought as I climbed aboard my ship-
Will I enjoy my little trip?
So I sailed across the stormy seas
Of algebra, science and I.C.T
Many a beasty monster tried
To stealthily relieve me of my prize.
Mwaha! Soon the beasts could threat no more,
For covered in guts,
Or lying in gore,
They all ended up on the seabed floor.
I checked the maps every day,
Noting down every possible way,
Of finding a calm, work free place
That would put a smile upon my face.
And at last I saw a blinding light
Past which stood an island in all its might
But the thing which really gave me a fright
Was that there was no homework in sight!
So I relaxed there for the next few days
Sunbathing, while a wafting haze
Of beautiful fruits, golden and ripe
Both big and small, of every type.
However, after a week or two I found,
That after having a look around,
The island was boring, there was nothing to do
Except making castles out of bamboo
So I climbed back aboard my trusty ship
(I had abandoned my so-called 'trip')
I sailed away for a year and a day
And arrived back home in early May
You see, work isn't really a chore
Without it life would be a bore!
I did this in year 6 for a competition Credits: I wrote this when I was 11
