Why and how has military technology changed through time?
Military technology has changed throughout time due to our everyday technology developing ideas constantly being invented. Which changes technology through inventions both for individual uses and mass production for World War I.
Many weapons were invented just as weapons to have around with no real use for them. However in World War I the use of new weapons was a necessity to develop them to different situations and conditions, needing/suiting specific weapons for. E.g. Trench warfare wouldn't need the same weapons as face-to-face combat: bayonet instead of a hand grenade: for example: The hand grenade was invented in the trenches as a hand held weapon to be thrown over the trenches into the enemies. Also the trenches have very little space so the hand grenades were small enough to fit in the limited space.
Turning points ' inventions changed military weapons starting from the bow and arrow to the rifle the first time using gun powder which had its advantages for e.g. Was a gun but very un-accurate and un-reliable. Whereas a weapon such as the bow and arrow ' easy materials to be found, accurate shot. Reliability of new weapons as everybody thought was not necessarily better as they found out with the rifle.
To conclude I think that military technology did change through time due to different wars and situations etc. but the reliability didn't necessarily mean new weapons sometimes the older the weapon the better.
