Title: Today
by Nell | in writing, poetry
The sponge sky soaked up the distant sea.
We dozed in the long heat,
Dreaming in tangerine.
A farmer's life wilted with his crop.
We counted calories
And cried over spilt milk.
The sly cracks of a drought scored long miles.
Our soft skin was scolded
By angry bath water.
A bird lay glued to the blackened rocks.
And we sat in a jam
On the M25.
Wide-eyed ten-year-old soldiers played war.
The twinkle of diamonds
Played in our glossy eyes.
Their lonely village devastated.
We looked out the window
And moaned about the rain.
Just sort of popped into my head when I should have been revising...
