Title: In The Moonlight...

by Dee from South Yorkshire | in writing, fiction

I was waiting for it to happen again, but this time, I wouldn't resist. Looking up through a clearing in the canopy of trees, I could just make out a thin slither of the moon emerging from behind a cloud.
I turned to see Emmet staring at the silvery slither. As it emerged further, his eyes grew wider, and he began to transform.
His eyes changed from their usual sparkling emerald, to deep, jet black. Through his open mouth I saw his teeth gleam, growing down, out past his lower lip, curling into a snarl. His hair grew rapidly, switching from short and styled, to long, greyish, scraggly. Hair began to grow everywhere ' his face, his hands. His muscles burst out of his shirt, ripping off the buttons, revealing his hair covered chest. The nails on his hands grew, brownish, long, more like claws.
I could see the moon reflected in his eyes, now a complete sphere. He crouched into a wolf-like stance.
'Emmet?' I said, barely a whisper, but he heard. It snapped him out of his trance, and his head snapped round to face me. His eyes were locked on mine. I could feel tears streaming down my face.
Knowing what was about to happen, I took a step forward, closer to him.
'I'm ready.' I choked, snapping him out of his second trance-like state.
He leapt. I fell. He snarled. I screamed!

I wrote it not long after reading the book Twilight so some of the idea was from there. Funnily enough, the name ""Emmet"" wasn't taken from Twilight! Credits: A little bit of help from Rachel!
