Title: Smile

by Harriet from Buckinghamshire | in writing, poetry

Smile for me please
Just once more
It's addictive, you know
Your smile

I spend so long trying to make you smile
You have this power
You control me
And yet
I wouldn't call you a bully
Because although you hurt me
I can pretend you don't
Because sometimes
You smile at me
And that makes everything okay

If you were a bully
I wouldn't want you as a friend
But I do
Because I'm the kind
To not pay attention
And let my friends
Slip away like soap
Through my hands
And I can't let anyone else slip away

I've lost too many
Through negligence
So I'll keep trying
To make you smile
That way I can make sure
You're not slipping away to anywhere

Smile for me please
