Title: Merry-Go-Round
by Hannah from Surrey | in writing, poetry
Merry-go-round
Round and round and round we go, at the gentle pace.
First we up and we are high, high as ever to reach the endless sky.
Then we down, down to earth is where we fall
Faster and faster and faster we go, passed the blurred figures. Clowns
Too fast. We can't stop it.
Primary colours swirl and melt of blues yellows '..and reds
Lights twinkle like the stars
And the melody groans in belly of the beast
I close my eyes. The breeze whips my face.
Yet eerie music is pleasant to my ears, the slow slumber of the mighty beast.
And then my head stops spinning''dare I open my eyes?
Will I see the painted distorted faces of mummies, and daddies.
Their smiles twisted, wickedness concealed by a grin?
My eyes are wide and open. No beast. No monsters
Just my daddy and I cradled in his arms.. 'Can we go again?'
I was inspired by the merry-go-round and the relationship I have with my dad. Credits: no credits
