Title: Beauty of the sea
by Bizz from Scotland | in writing, poetry
Swimming with the fish,
In blue stretches of calm,
Lives a creature unknown,
Its beauty is infinite,
And if you were to see,
Then it would be certain,
That you would fall in love,
Hopelessly in awe,
Of the sight that you saw.
Such beauty would your eyes meet,
Absolute perfection, from head to foot,
Hair that ripples like seaweed,
Eyes as blue as the home they know,
Wise beyond their years.
They need not words, just silver bubbles,
For their face speaks all,
Exerting peace to the deepest of seas.
I met one once,
Her green-blue tail,
Resting on the shingle,
After years of swishing,
To move her around.
Her time had come,
Her beauty years,
Gone before my eyes.
I told her of her beauty,
And before she could reply,
Her blue eyes went cloudy,
And her tail dried out.
As lasting respect to the live lost,
I delivered her
To her family in the sea.
I stayed for the ceremony,
Where they lay her for eternity
In her sandy place of rest,
Where they sang their mermaid song
A competition at school, the theme being the sea!!
