Title: Tonight the sky is violet
by Amy from Essex | in writing, poetry
Tonight the sky is violet.
The skeletal tree scores lines across it, but
It remains as smooth as paper.
They say it will snow.
All I see is violet.
And our breath '
Hanging.
By the top of the roof the colour is
Edged with pink.
The navy pavement and yellow windows
Cannot disguise the violet
Of the sky tonight.
And the smell of cold overwhelms the musk
Of your coat and the scent
Of your hair and skin.
I cannot yet see the moon
But when you lower your head towards me
The whites of your eyes gleam like
Pearls and I know
You are trying '
Words hang in your breath
But I'm sorry.
I cannot care for hazel '
Not when the sky
Is violet.
