Title: The darkness drew in

by Sarah from Durham | in writing, poetry

The darkness drew in,
The pavement's empty,
All the noises of the daytime disappearing,
One by one.

The darkness drew in,
My bedroom utter blackness,
My door gone,
Nothing but shadows.

The darkness drew in,
Close to my heart,
Wrapping its wooden fingers around,
And squeezing so tight.

The darkness drew in,
My eyes just black,
Nothing in front of me,
But the memories of former glories,

The darkness drew in,
Cold and subdued,
The darkness drew in,
And I was left alone.
