Title: My world / No communication

by Lewis from Warwickshire | in writing, fiction

No Communication

(Fiona walks over to Tom's locker at the end of the school day, anxious to get something out.)

Fiona: Tom! What you up to at the weekend?

(Tom puts his books away and closes his locker softly thinking of what to say.)

Tom: Err! I'm going out with some mates.

Fiona: Oh cool. See you next week.

(Fiona walks away, dejected like she is nothing to the world.)

(Fiona's friends are awaiting her and the good news, in the school car park.)

Charlotte: Did you ask him what he's doing at the weekend?

(Fiona walks past them, in a world of her own.)

Fiona: (Quietly) Yes.

(The girls follow her with intent to listen what she has to say next.)

Fiona: He said he was going out, that's all.

(She walks faster and faster, almost in tears.)

Charlotte: Didn't he even ask you what you were up to?

(Charlotte stops her and turns her around as Fiona starts to cry.)

Fiona: No, but it doesn't matter.

Charlotte: Yes it does! I'm going to ask him why he won't go out with you!

(Charlotte storms off to demand an answer.)

Fiona: (Shouts) No don't Charlotte!

(Charlotte notices Tom in the car park and aggressively walks up to him.)

Charlotte: Why won't you go out with Fiona?

(Going face to face with him and forcing her words at him.)

(Tom takes a step back not knowing what she is talking about.)

Tom: What are you talking about?

Charlotte: Why won't you go out with Fiona?

(Getting angrier and angrier as each word spits out of her mouth.)

Tom: Ok then!

(Suddenly realising what she is talking about.)

Charlotte: What?

(Now she is confused, not understanding what she is talking about.)

Tom: I'll go out with her then.

(An awkward Silence, then a smile fills their faces)
