Title: Awakening

Beep.Beep.Beep. The sound of the monitor measuring her heart rate was the first thing to break the long silence. As if she was breaking the surface of the ocean after being trapped under for so long, her mind began to rise out of its comatose state. Her lips parted slightly but no breath came out, her lungs rusty from what might have been years of no use. The beeps on the monitor came out faster as the blood started to pulse harder through her veins. A sweat broke out on her forehead as her body started to fill with a life and regaining consciousness grew closer. Her body convulsed, silently gagging as the lungs remained dormant. Somewhere an alarm went off, alerting various members of staff to the dangerously high heartbeat. The sound of automatic doors opening and a rush of footsteps was the trigger she needed.
Her eyes flipped open and her head was thrown back as a rush of oxygen ripped down her windpipe and was inhaled into her chest. She stared wildly at the ceiling, her throat burning at the unfamiliar feeling of the air as she gasped hungrily, dazed and confused. Her heartbeat started to relax and she collapsed back onto the bed again.
This is the prologue to a story I'm writing. I don't really know how I got inspired. My grammar's terrible so if anyone could correct mistakes I'd be grateful :)
