Title: Society's Shadow
by Phoebe from Lancashire | in writing, poetry
You live in a world of shadow,
A world with only pain,
Its foundations are built on corruption,
Flooded with red blood rain.
The eyes that see are the eyes that are blind,
For nobody speaks their mind,
You'd think for such an intelligent race,
You'd speak up for your own kind.
You massacre the innocent,
You set the guilty free,
Now what exactly have you become,
If that's your world's democracy?
I wish my world were different,
I wish none were so,
But this is basically what happens,
When society lets go.
Nobody stands for justice,
Nobody defends what's right,
Instead we choose to ignore the truth,
To stop fighting the good fight.
In ignorance we live our lives,
On cruelty we lay our head,
At hell's sweet doorstep we say our prayers,
For we fraternise with the dead.
But one thing I know for sure,
Is that we will all take turns,
In suffering the wrath of God,
When in effigy we burn.
