Title: The Fall

by Alice from Lancashire | in writing, poetry

The Fall
Each step, each foot plunges to the ground,
The freshly fallen snow breaks, and so does dawn,
But yet the wind still whispers as cold as ice,
And steals the breath and leaves the moans.
When the sky is blue yet stained with crimson,
And the rivers ' solid, but blood may flow,
When the trees will sway yet the leaves stay frozen,
When the glimmer of hope fades in the snow.
Can't escape the cries of pain, if not you, then those behind,
Spirits broken down, then fall with the rain,
Whimpers echo from time to time,
Then heard again, then again.
The last breath is stolen, the last word is spoken,
The unbroken ' broken, the fearful remain tall,
As we are the hero's but heroes do fall,
How the mighty have fallen, how the mighty will fall.
