Title: Ruby

by Alice from Lancashire | in writing, poetry

Ruby
Those crimson red stilettos beating her fiery rhythm at the shadows of the sapphire skies,
Each step the glossy ruby foot takes shows the breathtaking tale behind those angel eyes,
The lamps of the streets hear her coming as her name is whispered with the breeze through the night,
When she gradually walks with her burgundy shoes-clicking awaking the fire, burning the light,
Stealing the brightness to light up her face as she glows with radiance, illegal beauty - so fair,
I swear Marilyn would be emerald to steal one last breath and award one last envious stare,
A faultless smile to melt the world and a scarlet satin dress to win the shallow hearts of those,
Lost inside her eyes ' it seems so perfect she seems so safe yet she questions the brutal life she chose,
But her feelings unnoticed, her front - beauty wrapped in fur and dripping with gold, diamonds and grace,
She walks through the streets weighed down with the past yet on the surface they say she is 'just a pretty face'
Through the forbidden ally ' her footsteps drowned out from the endless sounds of the gleaming sopranos,
Her perfect eyes blurred from the overpowering neon lights as she silently steps closer to the bar known only by those,
The black door bolted seven times- a hoarse voice is released whose attention was stolen ' attention she grips,
She brushes a single blonde curl away from her angelic face while the words escape from her cherry red lips,
The entrance is hastily opened as the man in ebony recognises her angelic presence and leads her directly to the dark,
Although surrounded in black her heavenly light glistens and the darkness ' interrupted with her cigarette spark,
Lips so soft, smoke so rich in flavour one could get lost in the mysterious taste ' she's lost in bliss,
As the scent from a golden cigar ' not too far, completes her mind as she wishes for one single kiss,
They begin to realise her presence and the air falls silent and a few scattered whispers tried to chase the noise away,
Then the plum velvet curtains parted and exposed to the crowd she lifted the mike towards her ruby lips to say,
To sing alone - abandoned by all the rest, in the mist she taps her crimson stiletto to the beat,
She releases her golden curls, bites her ruby lip and her fur coat - dropped to meet her feet,
Then the anticipating breath of her fans is stolen once again as she sings about her life ' sings about her blues,
And tells those the tales that were locked behind her eyes ' the tale of a woman and her crimson red shoes.
