Title: Time's Ran Out...
by Amy from Durham | in writing, fiction
Emily sat in the stolen car, her eyes fixed on the digital clock sitting above the silent radio, watching the minutes tick by, waiting for the hour to strike, not moving a muscle, just sitting behind the drivers wheel, staring. The black car sat in a layby just off the country road, and the cars zipping past didn't notice it, or the underage driver, they just kept on driving, absorbed in their own thoughts and memories.
They say a million things run through your mind at a time like this, but Emily only had one thing running through hers. It wasn't what was she doing, she had gone over that enough, it was etched into the back of her mind, and it wasn't why she was doing it either, because she thought she knew the answer to that too, although she couldn't quite remember it. No, the thought running through her mind, the one question she needed answering was why her? Why Emily, when there were hundreds, perhaps even thousands of people ready, and more able to do the daunting task ahead of Emily, more willing to possibly cut their lives short, to prove themselves, someone who would be less scared...
Nothing really. Well, obviously I had an inspiration, but I don't know what it was. I was just bored one lesson, and started writing.
