Title: Hunter's Lament
by ciara from Wales | in writing, performance, lyrics
Hunters Lament
Like a baby in a bathtub
You’re drowning in your whisky
There’s nothing like that pick-me-up
But it's smothering so quickly
(Once without harmony, 3 times with harmony - repeat last line, last time)
Throw on your furs
And set off to the woods
Dawn breaks in the forest
As you lift up tartan hoods
-
The red sky gives its light
Shafts through branches of the trees -
The hunter walks through the woodland
Battered old boots crushing leaves
(Instrumental)
Like a baby in a bathtub
You’re drowning in your whisky
There’s nothing like that pick-me-up
But it's smothering so quickly
A gun is slung over his shoulder
A heavy jacket on his back
Even so his weighty footsteps
Are silent as he goes into attack
Like a baby in a bathtub
You're drowning in your whisky
There's nothing like that pick-me-up
But it's smothering so quickly
I guess this means there's nothing left
Except the deer's head
Hanging on your wall
Twisted memories
Nothing makes sense
The first song I wrote for my band
