Concept Statement…

Inspired by the on-line V&A Ceramics collection, I was attracted by the stunning Wedgewood-style royal blue & white China patterns. I wanted to re-create this texturally, so I have incorporated elegant, and very on-trend, lace in midnight blue shades into my collection designs.
Although ceramics are purely solid, many of them have a fluid design to them, like the ‘Spirit of the Wind’ figure, so I aimed to combine structured shapes with sheer draped silk and chiffon material to highlight the ceramic aspects of the pieces.
I reflected my concept through the use of runway trends, including the chic jumpsuit and statement couture dress. My designs that have asymmetric shapes, through their shoulder forms, were inspired by the interesting balance of teapots and the textural drapes seen decorating the architectural V&A ceramics collection.
