The chair, an old piece of furniture, resembles the nature in which items become unused, unwanted, indeed somewhat redundant. As a result the chair has become discarded. I sprayed the chair white to symbolise its ‘passing’ – how it has now become forgotten about and unwanted. The fractured piece of wood, which spikes from one of few remaining spindles left attached to the back of the chair, further symbolizes the dilapidated nature of the piece.
