Title: My Flower is Wilting

by Katie Armstrong from Durham | in music & audio, production, lyrics

My flower is wilting
My hope is sinking
Can you revive
Our love
Can we relive
What we left behind

Chorus:

I want you
But I can't have you
What do I do?
I want to ask you
But how do I do it?
I'm stuck going round in circles
Always back to being friends

When I want to be more
Than that
Where are we at
With this
This train that just keeps going
I'm always hesitating
Stopping at the same stop

Help me to get off
I need to tell you
But I'm worried
About what
The others might think
Let's not sink
Too low
Before we can't come back up
To the surface
Anymore...

Chorus:

I want you
But I can't have you
What do I do?
I want to ask you
But how do I do it?
I'm stuck going round in circles
Always back to being friends

I'm dreaming
Always thinking
About you
I'm crying
But I don't know why

I think that I need you
But is this really love
And that's why I'm unsure
Of what would become
If my flower would live

Because I like you
But do I like like like like l-l-like like you?
Really like like like l-l-l-like like-
Love you???

I'm not sure if I love you
But I really really like you
What do I do?
I want to ask you
But how do I do it?
I'm stuck going round in circles
Always back to being friends

But maybe I'm going to stay
L-l-l-liking you
This way...

So let this flower keep on wilting
Let our love go
So slow
Far away but still so close

The petals fall off one by one
My ideas of a love dying
Flying
Leaving us alone...

It is based on my own thoughts and experiences and is about a girl and a boy who are friends but one of them wants to be more than that. They don't want their friendship to fall apart so it is about keeping the balance right between love and friendship.
