Title: Heaven's Net Is Wide
by BraveHeart from Cambridgeshire | in writing, poetry, dark
Heaven芒聙聶s net is wide,
Or at least we hope it is
Sometimes I think, even if Heaven芒聙聶s Net was wide enough for all,
(Which I芒聙聶m told it most certainly is not)
I would still dive through, miss it and fall.
Billions of eyes stare down at me
Some stretch out their arms
and I stretch out mine,
The touch gives me hope,
Warms my insides and I start to believe
Heaven芒聙聶s Net is indeed wide.
But as I look into that mans eye,
I see doubt.
He knows he can芒聙聶t hold on. He knows I芒聙聶m falling.
The wind now howls
and I look down,
Into the lonely, dark abyss I must now call home.
I long for love, or to hear a voice.
Nothing. Silence.
As I fall and pick up more speed I scream,
芒聙聹Why is Heaven芒聙聶s net not wide enough for me!?芒聙聺
I shiver with fear and pray for forgiveness.
I scream and curse, curse and scream
I scrape the walls and then hit the floor
My body lies broken, shattered and lifeless.
My head bleeds and my chest aches.
Sleep and all the hope I once had escapes.
And, despite all this, as much as it pains to admit,
Heaven芒聙聶s Net is Wide,
Wide as it should be.
This poem is really different to how I usually write. I wrote it because i've realised that I've done some things wrongly, made mistakes and hurt people that are always there for me. It is also a question of the existence of Heaven and wether i'm going to make it there or if, like how i felt at the time of writing, I maybe banished to an eternity of nothingness or torture. Well, this is my first upload so any feedback will be appreciated greatly. Please enjoy the poem! BraveHeart x
