Title: My River-Bank.

by poetenoch | in writing, poetry, love

My river bank do I remember as site at night.
My love do I memorize by her braids at cite.
On a clear winter's night, do I see your crystal beauty;
from the summer's shadows, do I resume a lover's loyalty.
My river bank's beauty is too loud to bear at day.

It is a nature's description of a young African man's desire concerning his fiance: who sleeps by his side at night; but he cannot dear to touch her; because of the African tradition of moral respect for African women. He then decides to liken her to a river-bank he sees and loves to admire but cannot touch and feel at night. But he then continues to hope, that after the winter has passed; he will surely get married to his bride in the summer; and he will receive the dividend of his desired bride. He finally then says that the beauty of his bride will be too much for him to acquire at noon or at day. And so by contrast, he sets his mind on the moon light love at night.
