Title: Can you hear that?

by Laulaz from Wales | in writing, poetry, war

Can you hear that groaning noise?
That sounds so far away.
That echoes in the children’s ears,
And makes them run away?

Can you hear that siren scream?
That rips apart the night.
That fills your days with anxiousness
And your evenings with fright?

Can you hear them shouting now?
How their voices fill with terror.
As they point their fingers to the sight
Stuck in their minds forever?

Can you hear that silence fill
every corner of your mind?
Or the banging on the shelter door
Of the ones been left behind?

Now can you them breaking it?
Can you hear the heavens fall?
Can you hear your fellow man?
Tell me, Can you hear the war?
