Title: Pearl Wunderkammer Wallnuts
Image by Claire from South Yorkshire | in art & design, 3d & sculpture, mixed media
I produced these sculptures as part of my Wunderkammer and curiosity project. The viewer is invited to appease their curiosity and interact with the sculptures opening them up to see what surprises they hold within.

this is very clever, and well executed. They'd make lovely jewelery pieces as well as being art object curiosities. They have a really precious feeling about them, and i can imagine them being squirrel'd away somewhere safe. I'm going to post a link to them on the fashion message board. =)j

I love this! Not only do I love walnuts, but I love the concept of something precious hidden beneath such a hard exterior. The way so many things we see everyday have such an unassuming exterior, and beneath lies something precious, luxurious, exciting. OK maybe a nut being precious may be going too far, but you know what I mean. This piece takes that concept one step further. I also think there's something exciting about the fact a nut is so difficult to open. The same applied for oysters, they look like a piece of rock to me, but there's something exciting that lies beneath. I'd love to see more from your curiosity project Claire.
