We’re organising several events around the UK as part of our involvement in this year’s .

For the second year running, Action Network has joined forces with the RSA to inspire people to discuss and take action on pressing issues in their communities. The discussions we're organising are based on ideas that Action Network users have been putting on the agenda.

The 大象传媒 News 24 presenter, Jon Sopel, will join us to chair our flagship event in the café at the National Gallery in London. It'll be on Thursday 22 June at 6.30pm. We'll be looking at the challenges facing communities who want to maintain the provision of sports and leisure facilities which councils have earmarked for closure. This is an issue which has been bubbling up around the London pages on Action Network, as the capital starts to get into shape for the 2012 Olympics. If you ’re bursting with ideas on how to save these community services, come and join the discussion. (Update 25 May: Polly Billington will now be chairing this event instead of Jon Sopel.)

We’re also holding an event in Selkirk, in the Scottish Borders. It will give local residents a chance to think imaginatively about what could be done to regenerate the town if Burgh rights were restored. Radio Scotland’s Action Scotland programme will broadcast live from the event which will be at the Jaggy Thistle coffee house, 18 West Port, Selkirk at 6pm on Tuesday 6 June.

Entry to either discussion will be by invitation. If you want to attend, please contact us.

We’re in the midst of organising a challenge in Northern Ireland, and our colleagues responsible for local 大象传媒 services in the English regions are planning meetings across England. We will keep you posted on times and dates of all our events on Action Network's Coffeehouse Challenge page. You can also find information there on how to organise your own discussion. It's not too late join in.
