Add to it with the emotional pain of the mothers frantic efforts

here we have some clues. I think

Rathborne High school - where the stories set

and Who would complain about missing person posters - is that important

Hiya Ewan! Hehe, I suspect this is right up your alley, looking for hidden meaning!

Hmm, other than the "anonymous" citizen who complained about the posters, does it seem relevant that Mrs Bolton didn't notice her son was missing until his omelette went cold? :(

Such a sad state of affairs that a mother sees her son so little (either because of work or otherwise) that this is the only way she knows he's not there.

Could it be that her frantic efforts are fuelled not only by fear and worry but also guilt of some kind. Or, a more cynical mind might think "the lady doth protest too much"?

    :D KC

who knows what it means, in these days were children spend so much time on the internet or watching TV what is happening to the core family values.

Tut tut tut society are you seeing the change that has come over you?

Grief and Guilt are so tightly wrapped up in each other it's sometimes hard to see where one starts and the other ends.

Oh and see you on update 3

Complaining about missing person posters, seems kinda cold hearted, unless there real is THAT many of them.

  • Comment number 7.

The Asbo seems an overreaction, certainly.

  • Comment number 8.

Maybe she was served the ASBO by a Herrick-like copper ;)

  • Comment number 9.

I actually called the number written on the poster - the number was not recognised, sadly. Just thought i'd debunk that one for anyone wondering ^^

  • Comment number 10.

ASBOs are for a minimum period of 2 years so can't be for 6 months as the article states. And there's no way the Council could have got one so quickly!

  • Comment number 11.

Oddly they have, seemingly deliberately, blurred the phone number to make it hard to read, though not illegible, despite the fact it is a reserved fictional number... I wonder why.

  • Comment number 12.

So what do we have here...

All those brilliant points made by the other people commenting, but have you ever thought to contradict yourself? Maybe the paper slipped up, and mentioned said anonymous person's name, just like the slipped up at not fully blurring out that phone number? I reckon the councillor is the anonymous person. Why would they go straight on for an ASBO? Without warning... "Councillor cretin" AKA Gary Frinton wasn't it?

On the other hand, Mommy is over reacting by putting 500 posters over a single town is going too far, cover up maybe? Possibly trying to hide something.

Don't try feeling sorry for anyone in this folks, it could mislead you.

The Werewolf didnt know she was a werewolf, indicating that she has only recently been converted in the last turn of the moon, (so there is at least one more werewolf at large AND if it got her, its very likely to have been at the school)

The ghost thinks he was killed in a toilet on a Friday night after school, was the Friday a full moon by any chance? could such a toilet (which seemed to be outside when we saw it) have seemed a convenient place for an unfit boy to hide when he was being chased by a werewolf?

seeing Katya's point there, I think we are allowing the writers artistic licence regarding the ins and outs of the getting of the ASBO, ASBO's are a criminal sanction and HAVE to be put by a court, (a council doesnt have the authority to impose an asbo, but have to ask the CPS to take that to court), in which case she would have been entitled (and advised) to have a Solicitor (which would be free), who would have immediately have pointed out to the court that at 17 the boy hasn't reached majority so is technically a missing child, and that the Police should be doing something and until such time as they did, an ASBO cant be imposed by the magistrates on a distraugt and helpless mother, At best the magistrates would only have authority to issue 'words of advice'.

I think the fact that in this story "the council have issued an ASBO" is only artistic licence and not important to the plot
