Going out tonight...
We're halfway through the show as I write this and really getting in the mood for a night out. All that's missing here is a bottle of cider and the smell of the really cheap hair gel you used to get in Boots. Can't remember what it was called though. Any clues?
Anyway here's Greg from Bridge of Don's tunes I was talking about on the show:
"Here is a list of songs that I stuck together with the help of some friends for my birthday night out last November that I handed over to the DJ in the Monkey House in Union Street. Unfortunately, due to house rules he couldn鈥檛 really play any. Some may well be a bit naff but I still reckon it鈥檚 a pretty decent selection of 鈥済etting ready for a big night out鈥 tracks. I鈥檝e a few friends coming to visit tomorrow for a few days so the weekend kicks off tonight!
Cheers,

Great list from Greg. I wish I had time to read out Bobby from Howwood's e-mail at the end of the show. Here it is in full so everyone else can take a look:
"This theme could pretty much cover everything! Anyway, after thinking about it over my coffee, I have come up with the following which I have recently been able to play from my 7鈥 single collection, since my good lady Arlene bought me a 鈥淒ansette鈥 for my Xmas. It even has that burning smell you get when you鈥檝e been playing it too long and the dust and oose starts to fry inside! Don鈥檛 tell the Health and Safety Police!
Anyway, Imagine the scene, somewhere between 1978 and 1980, Friday night at about half past six, just out the bath after a long days skive at the shipyards and getting ready to put on my pvc straight leg trousers, XTC t-shirt and bikers jacket, ready to head to the Apollo with the lads to see whoever鈥︹
The old dansette will stack 8 singles, so what am I going to listen to to get me 鈥渦p for it鈥?

Maybe rather predictable now I know, but at the time every one seemed like it could change the world, and made a 17year old boy feel like he was part of some kind of revolution!!
Sadly, this 46 year old still thinks he鈥檚 that 17 year old, whilst his kids just shake their heads in disgust.
C鈥檓on now, al together 鈥淣o future, No future, No future for you鈥..鈥
Any one of the above would be great, if not 鈥淥ne November Spawned a Monster鈥 for a different era, would do fine!
