It's themeless...

Bryan Burnett | 16:58 UK time, Thursday, 3 July 2008

hi000997795.jpgTonight is the first of our theme-less Thursdays. It's partly an attempt to catch up with some of the songs I haven't had the chance to play and also to give you the chance to ask for those 'must hear' songs that don't fit into any other theme. It's been a weird afternoon though as the lack of a theme means I have not had anything to focus on. This has led to 'diversions' like having to go to the canteen twice for a fruit scone and coffee and then an hour later for a tea and a slab of cake. Now I feel sick. Is it any wonder.

It has been a weird afternoon for me too, whats this no theme tonight?? I've nuthin to think about, well I just went and made half dozen rolls to pass the time!!

If you really are playing anything how about...Hawkwind,Silver Machine for Neil
or Chocolate Girl,Deacon Blue for my wife Christine (just incase they don't like the rolls)!!

Bryan you mentioned Dream Covers last night as a possible theme, not sure how that would work though. I've always thought that The Proclaimers should cover Bon Jovi's You Give Love A Bad Name in there own inimitable style:
"Shot thro the hert, and youre tae blim.
You gie love a bad nim."
    Cheers

    Hi Bryan!

I was thinking about no theme day so I asked my 11 year old daughter for her favourite song on her ipod.
I didn't really have a clue about what would be on it - just thought that it would be a bit of the Sugarbabes or some "poppy" numbers.

Well it turns out that the ONLY music she has on it is Led Zeppelin! Nothing else!
The most played song is Living Loving Maid (she's just a woman) but when I asked her she said she really loves
    Bron-Y-Aur Stomp too!!

This will really please her dad as he is a big Led Zep fan and he will have a right laugh as he will be listening to this at work this evening! She really is her fathers daughter!
It would be great if you could play a bit of Led Zep for my wee girl and her HARDWORKING daddy!!

For the next Themeless Thursday could you play "Sunset Hymn" by Emily Smith? It might make up for that awful Frankie valli/Chipmunk song, the thought of which still makes me shudder It was sooo bad that playing something by Alan Price only partially makes up for it)!

Hey BB ... absolutely right to play 'The wee cock sparra' ... I'd have voted for it myself !!!
Anyway, that's what GIO's all about ... playing the most eclectic music anywhere on radio ... whether it be Abba or Nine Inch Nails ...
    Keep it different GIO team!
