Separated at birth...

Bryan Burnett | 08:15 UK time, Tuesday, 29 July 2008

I was digging out a picture of Baltimora for last night's summer mix when it struck me. The singer of Tarzan Boy looked eeerily familiar. The big hair and the 80s specs reminded me of someone from my distant past. Just before bedtime, the horrible truth dawned on me....

Dear Jim (the Welder) from Glasgow... I guess as I was one of the listeners who requested Billy Bragg (Saturday Boy) for last nights show I should defend my choice... OK, not the most gifted vocalist of modern times... but you've got to focus on the lyrics Jim. Billy Bragg is really one of our greatest, most profound poets. The 'Saturday Boy' is the ultimate tale of early, unrequited love that we have all experienced and is a literary gem, if only for the line 'I never made the first team, I just made the first team laugh...'

Go on Jim... listen again, and focus on those lyrics...

My earlier blog overlooked "1999" by Prince.

Hi Joe, thanks for this request. Only thing is, I think your 'earlier blog' might be missing in action because I can't track it down. Can you try again, or email getiton@bbc.co.uk - don't want to miss any gems!

Also, for boss theme tomorrow would you consider the song I use as my mobile ringtone for my better half: She's no lady she's my wife by Lyell Lovett.

Hoep this works, and you can play something from this long list (apologies). Keep up the good work.
