"Keep going till you feel like your head is going to explode...and then work a little harder." That's the advice I've been given this weekend - and surprisingly not from my producer.
It came from , the Glasgow cyclist who came home with two gold medals from the Paralympic Games in Beijing this year.

I was lucky enough to meet her at a black tie do in Kelvingrove Museum on Friday night where Aileen picked up the trophy as Disabled athlete of the year in the Glasgow sportsperson awards.

I was hosting the Scottish Athletics dinner and Paula was the guest of honour. I had to pinch myself during the pre-dinner drinks when I realised that I was lucky enough to be discussing my marathon performance with the woman who is often referred to as the greatest marathon runner alive! Her biggest revelation came during dinner when she slipped off her high heels to reveal that they had been specially made for her by the well known sportwear company who are her main sponsor.
My favourite bit of advice of the night though was this little nugget which was passed on by the sister of one of the award winning members of Jogscotland in Peterhead. Worried that her strong 'Peterheed' accent might not be understood in the big city she urged:Ìý
" Hae a good time in Glesga, jist dinna spik!"
