Me and Miss Babs down by the schoolyard...

Bryan Burnett | 17:42 UK time, Monday, 15 June 2009

alva1.jpgMeet my new production team. The more observant among you will have noticed that they are a bit more fresh faced and youthful looking than the old lot. "What's going on here then?" I hear you ask. "Is this Radio Scotland's desperate attempt to attract the yoof audience, or is Bryan so worried about being out of touch that he'll not work with anyone over the age of seventeen?"

Fear not, Miss Babs, Mandi and the rest of the team have not been carted off to the home for the bewildered but for one night only the show will be produced by the pupils of this year's Soundtown school which is Alva Academy.

I had an enjoyable morning at the school today where six pupils auditioned for a role on the show and pitched us their ideas for themes. Some of the themes were very good indeed and I'm looking forward to using them over the next few weeks.

The 'new production team' have chosen their theme for Thursday and it's going to be artists with colours in their name. Lots of names to choose from: Deacon Blue, Pink and Deep Purple were just three that were suggested this morning.

The Soundtown pupils are a very confident, enthusiastic and bright bunch of kids so I genuinely am looking forward to working with them on Thursday.
