I've given up complaining about repeat themes (even though there are many that have been suggested here and elsewhere that have never been used).

Eurythmics at the SECC was the first gig I ever went to- my trendy aunt took me and had copied all her Eurythmics albums onto tapes for me so I knew all the songs. However she omitted "Missionary Man" in case my very religious parents got upset! This was the song they opened with and I was most upset it was the only one I didn;t kow the words to- I know all the words now!!

I remember her singing this ending in a ´óÏó´«Ã½ programme called 'The Songwriters Circle' about 10 or 15 years ago. Twas a great series which also featured John Martyn and Neil Finn amongst others. Gretchen Peters was on the same programme and I always remember her face lighting up when Joan started playing Diamonds and Rust.

Although Dylan is not specifically named in the song, Baez has admitted in her memoir as well as in a number of interviews that he is the inspiration for the song.

The following excerpt shows Baez's rendition of this conversation between her and Dylan:

"You gonna sing that song about robin's eggs and diamonds?" Bob had asked me on the first day of rehearsals.
"Which one?"
"You know, that one about blue eyes and diamonds..."

Loads of requests for The River by Mr Springsteen - not surprising since it's an absolute classic. I'll buck the trend by asking for The River by King Trigger. A catchy little number from the early 80's & about the only song I can think of that actually mentions a dug-out canoe.

If you do decide to play Wink Martindale's Deck of Cards at least have the decency to provide a Public Service Announcement so we can switch off for a couple of minutes.
