As tempted as we were by hairy people, I worried that two hours of beardy bands might not have kept everyone entertained. Your H suggestions have been flooding in and thanks very much to everyone who has contributed. I really liked Jim's suggestion of 'hard to hear lyrics' and that's an idea will will return to very soon. Hippies, horses and hounds, and harmonicas songs were all in the running but we have decided to go for 'happy days and holidays' and the songs that remind you of them. See you Monday for what should be a cheery show.

Happiness
As Nine Inch Nails didn't find many takers in the production team when they did get played, I won't waste anyone's time suggesting Happiness in Slavery. It's rubbish, anyway.
But they did do a cover, featured in "The Crow" soundtrack, of another famously happy band's songs.
Joy Division Dead Souls
Then there's the wonderfully positive, upbeat
REM Shiny Happy People
Not forgetting the cheeriest of
The Beatles songs Happiness Is A Warm Gun
Am I missing the point here a bit?
Here's one that might fit better. One of the best Bond themes ever.
GLADys Knight License To Kill

Happy holidays - can't use Bad Day again so what about
The Real McCoy - The Silencers
it reminds me of Greenock's glory days in 1999 when the Tall Ships visited. It was the best of times here, wonderful sunshine, a carefree family atmosphere with the whole of Inverclyde walking around the Waterfront and enjoying themselves. I just remember playing a Silencers' CD while getting ready to go down to the harbour again and this song sounding as happy as I felt. The are coming back next year.
Our holidays tend to be on the Isles of Rum and Skye and not much music involved, but last year as we hit the road to Crianlarich we had on Ode to J Smith on in the car so
J Smith - Travis
would remind us of a brilliant weekend, me being Hazel, Ross and myself and I don't expect there will be many more holidays for the three of us what with girlfriends and boyfriends (theirs) and Mum (me) being nothing more than a burden ...
Way back, way way back, my friend Elaine and I were in France with my Mum and Dad and Nights in White Satin was the song of the holiday. Elaine and I were complete and hopeless romantics, the highlight of our holiday apart from a sight of whichever garcons we fancied, was seeing Zeffirelli's Romeo and Juliet in French. Oh Rrromeo, Rrromeo pourquoi est'tu Rrromeo? How our little hearts fluttered.
Nights in White Satin - the Moody Blues
or the next year
Honky Tonk Women - Rolling Stones
played in le Nightclub. In the days when 10pm was the home curfew hour, it was an unbelievable indulgence for us to be allowed to go out at 10.00pm to start our evening - and in a Nightclub!! Sure beat walking along Rothesay prom, wondering if any of the young farmers would offer us a run in his car.
OK, best stop now.
