Best memories of PE at school was the most dangerous sport of the lot - Social Dancing in the run up to Christmas. My suggestion is therefore

Who got Full Colours in school and for what?

Much hilarity around work this afternoon trying to remember the name of a tune. Those of a certain vintage who learned Social Dance as part of their PE curriculum should be familiar with this tune, which we all used for the Cha-Cha lessons.

All we can remember is that it went:

Certainly not me. The best I ever did was come in 3rd in a cross-country once and I can still see the look of astonishment on the gym teacher's face. Stamina yes, fleetness of foot and hand/eye co-ordination, a resounding no. The most enjoyable gym periods were spent plunking on a summer's day at Ettrick bay.

cha cha cha! My heavens, how cosmopolitan they must be in the East Neuk. Our social dancing was all of the Scottish country dance variety, the valeta, the St Bernard's waltz, the Gay Gordons, the Canadian Barn Dance....

Quickstep, Foxtrot, Tango, Waltzes, we even learned the Lancers (& never danced it since!)

Devil Woman by Cliff Richard (our PE teacher could be pretty horrible) and maybe some Ian Dury, Hit Me With your Rhythm(Hockey)Stick - that was the best bit for me, getting a good whack at some girl you didn't like...I know to look at me Scotch you wouldn't think I had it in me ;-)

#42 #43 We got all those and Cha Cha and square tango. We were taught The Lancers and it just makes me think of Mr Pastry (one Gymn Teacher even had that moustache). Sure I remember Eightsome Reels too!

Suppose was worth enduring the head of the PE Dept skipping round the gymnasium, whacking children randomly on the backside with a ping pong bat just to be able to have a vague idea of how to dance at weddings etc.

Mind you, I can think of a few graves I wouldn't mind dancing on...
