At 5th Jan 2011, henri hannah wrote:Check My Machine - Paul McCartney
These days, McCartney is probably thought of as rather passe - but hear this!
No wonder he gets cheesed off with everyone crowing on about John being experimental, far out one. After the Japan drugs bust, in July 1979, Macca returned to the farmhouse on the Mull of Kintyre to reflect and decide what to next. He took with him the latest synth and sampling technology including a brand new just invented Studer 16 track tape machine, recorded 20 songs and then put them aside to commence a tour with Wings (performing one of these songs live - the recording of 'Coming Up'- would give Macca and 'Glasgow' a US No 1).
The songs would eventually be released as McCartney 2: Check My Machine was the first song recorded and was written to test the equipment (obviously) and is the first commercial recording using specialist sampling technology - but incredibly did not appear on the album (b side to Waterfalls).
It reaffirms the truth that McCartney was always at the cutting edge - it is also seriously infectious and you'll find yourself humming it days later.
More suggestions to follow, no doubt, but Bryan, you should check this out.
regardez youse

On that note - instead of the usual suspects for this theme, going for something a bit cheesy just for the cheery-up factor. Probably missing the intended direction by a mile, but - hey-ho.
All those "New Year, New You" ads on the TV for dating sites - must be a big market out there. Some find it easier/ more convenient/ less painful (delete as appropriate to find your best match!) to use their computer when
Searchin' (Looking for Love) Hazell Dean
